Mariana Payano is the Human Resources Manager at Hyde Leadership Charter School – Brooklyn. In her role, she supports the school’s mission to develop each student’s unique potential by making sure the people and systems behind the scenes are running smoothly. She focuses on building strong HR practices that help staff feel supported, valued, and ready to do their best work for students and families.
Before joining Hyde-Brooklyn, Mariana worked in HR roles at Northern Leasing Systems and Gourmet Boutique. Those experiences gave her a solid foundation in everything from employee relations to compliance, and taught her the importance of clear communication, empathy, and consistency — all qualities she brings to her work today.
Mariana earned her Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from Baruch College. Originally from the Dominican Republic, she brings a warm, community-oriented approach to her work and believes in leading with patience and integrity.
She’s been part of the Hyde-Brooklyn team for ten years and is proud to be part of a school that values character, family, and growth. Outside of work, Mariana enjoys gardening, building things with her hands, and spending time with loved ones.
