Christine DePina Forbes

Head of School

Christine DePina Forbes is the Head of School at Hyde Leadership Charter School – Brooklyn, a role she has held after serving as a Founding Board Member. She began her journey with Hyde Brooklyn in the 2012-2013 school year, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to education.

A life-long educator, Christine’s career began in the classroom as a teacher in Roxbury, Massachusetts (Boston Public Schools), and Adelphi, Maryland (Prince George’s County). Her dedication to student success has driven her to take on leadership roles in education, serving as an Assistant Principal and Principal in charter schools in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, and Harlem, New York.

Christine is a proud graduate of Simmons College, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Spanish. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University. While her academic credentials are impressive, Christine believes her most profound learning has come from the countless students who have shaped her understanding of life, learning, humility, compassion, and accountability.

Above all, Christine DePina Forbes is deeply committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive. She believes that the foundation of student success is a nurturing, loving community where strong teacher-student relationships and a focus on intentional, meaningful instruction can flourish. Under her leadership, Hyde Brooklyn fosters an environment where students not only succeed academically but are encouraged to find and use their voice.
