Sandra J. DuPree, Ed.D. is the Executive Director of Hyde Leadership Charter School – Brooklyn, where she serves as the educational leader and chief administrator. In this role, she provides vision and direction for all members of the school community in alignment with Hyde’s philosophy, goals, and principles.
Prior to launching Hyde Leadership Charter School-Brooklyn in 2010, Dr. DuPree served as Director of Academic Development at the Hyde Foundation, supporting and developing school leaders across the network. She also held senior roles as Director of Program Quality at The After-School Corporation (TASC) and Director of Admissions Training and Quality Assurance at New Leaders for New Schools (NLNS), where she designed monitoring systems and programming frameworks to drive quality outcomes for schools and students.
Dr. DuPree was the founding Elementary Director of Hyde Leadership Public Charter School in Washington, D.C., earning the Mayor’s Recognition of High Performance Award. Earlier in her career, she served as an elementary educator within the District of Columbia Public Schools, Prince George’s County Public Schools, prior to joining the charter sector. Sandra has served as an Adjunct Professor at LaGuardia Community College and Hunter College, and worked as an independent consultant, bringing more than a decade of broad-based teaching and leadership experience.
Dr. DuPree earned her B.A. and Ed.D. from Howard University and her M.A. from Trinity University. A visionary educator, she is committed to creating schools where students grow academically, thrive socially, and develop the character and citizenship skills needed to succeed in school and beyond. The Hyde word that resonates most with her is courage, because it takes courage for both children and adults to face challenges, embrace growth, and become their best selves.
